Guest guest
Had surgery March 17. Upper and lower adnancement and they also split my upper. I also had a tracheostomy, as the surgeons were concened about maintaining my airway, since I have sleep apnea. Surgery went well, woke up in ICU holding up ten fingers to the pain question, but that got better. However, found myself in the ER a few days after with what seemed like pneumonia, but turned out to be tracheal bronchitis. I was having trouble keeping my trach tube cleared so the admitted me and put me on antibiotics. They also put a smaller trach tube in, which allowed me to breathe around it and also talk. Recovering from the tracheostomy was more trying than the surgery. Things are going well now. Saw the doc today and she says everything is looking good. I have a splint and rubber bands. I wasn't wired. My wife tells me when i nap on the couch now, I keep my mouth closed, but do not snore. That is a good sign I think that the surgery did correct my sleep apnea. We'll see when the swelling goes away and I am able to have another sleep study. Hope everyone else is doing well. pebner33
