Guest guest
My son Aiden just got his helmet and had red marks on his head in the target area. I went the next day and they shaved that area in the helmet. Now 2 days later I noticed it's really yellow in the target area. Does that mean it's touching??? Guest guest
By " target areas " do you mean flat spots? It shouldn't touch in those areas. It should only hold in the prominent areas - and that is the place where you should get the red spots (but not too red). I would go back to the ortho and get a good explanation. -christine sydney, 3 yrs, starband grad > > My son Aiden just got his helmet and had red marks on his head in the target area. Guest guest
I don't have much experience because Mia just got her band on Friday, but if it helps at all - they told me that if the red area is around the size of a quarter, it's most likely the band. If it's a larger area, it's most likely from the heat. If you take the band off often enough to wipe it out along with his head, I can't imagine that it would cause a bacterial infection - but I suppose that anything is possible! Guest guest
At CT the OT told me I could put hydrocortisone (sp?) on the " heat rash " my daughter developed on the back of her head/neck. I didn't b/c that is a steriod and the " heat rash " wasn't that bad. > > > > > > My son Aiden just got his helmet and had red marks on his head in the target area. Guest guest
My sons skin is sooo bad to begin with it is very difficult to differentiate what is going on. How long did the heat rash last? Did it look like very very small bumps. I've been using hydrocortisone cream on him here and there because if not he gets bacterial infections. It kills me to use it but if not its another antibiotic. From: suzanne30 <suzanne30@...>Subject: Re: Yellow in helmet. Guest guest
Something that is non-perscription and mild to use is lavender oil (find it in health stores or on-line). It has anti-inflam, antiviral and antiseptic qualities. It is used to treat psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. My family has this in the medicine chest and it has proved itself worthy. Give it a go, try it mixed with baby oil, vaseline or mild lotion to make it easier to apply. Sheryl > > > > > > > > My son Aiden just got his helmet and had red marks on his head in the target area.
