I called Dr P's office this morning and spoke with Joyce. I figured it best not

to " tattle " on

the nurse from yesterday, so I just put that behind me. Explained to Joyce that

we have

FULL trust in Dr P's judgement and just wanted some clarification to clear up

our

confusion. She was sooooooooo happy to help answer our questions! I'm just

beaming

now. So much different than yesterday's experience, that's for sure!

Anyway, she explained that Dr P gave us the swedish brace because he's unhappy

with the

Markells right now since so many people are having trouble with sores, blisters,

and

slippage, and he's also not thrilled with the cost of the s. He gave us

the Swedish

brace to save us some money and also because it's so much more supple than the

Markells.

I asked under what circumstances he'd say to use the s, since our ins

covers 80%

of the cost, and she said if we'd like, we can go ahead and order them. I

believe I'll be

doing just that, considering how many people are so very satisfied with them,

and overall

it doesn't cost much more than buying the high end Stride Rites would for a

typical set of

feet!

I just wanted to let you all know that Joyce was wonderful, as was when I

spoke with

her before Christmas. It was just that one nasty nurse, and with any luck, she

was just

having a bad day!

Happy New Year, everyone! And thanks again for all the support!

Stacee,

I'm glad you were able to get some resolution, and Joyce is just the

sweetest. Was she able to answer the questions about the angle of the

shoes? I am a bit concerned about this part, I saw the pics you

posted of the brace and I don't see much if any difference in the

angle from his affected foot and his " normal " foot. Is there anyway

to change the angle? I've seen this brace before, but not up close.

The global help booklet says they are attached with screws but I can't

see how they could be adjusted.

I actually did not ask about the angle today, but my husband asked Dr P when we

were in

the office, and the question was shrugged off to some extent. Dr P's response

was that

" yes, it's fine " so we just went with that. Now that everyone on this and the

cfpics group is

questioning it, I think I'm going to call back. They definitely cannot be

adjusted... the

" shoes " are attached with two bolts each, none of which can be removed or

adjusted.

After I've spoken with either Joyce or Dr P, I will repost!

I kind of got the impression that Dr. P gave you this brace kind of as

a temporary anyway, so maybe he felt that it would be okay for a

little while. But I am surprised that they did not go ahead and have

you order s if that was the case. Let us know what they say!

I just spoke with Joyce, who wasn't able to answer my question about the angles,

so she

said she'd have him call me later this afternoon.

He doesn't intend to see us again (barring trouble) until mid-March, and hadn't

actually

mentioned anything about the s--I just flat out asked Joyce today if we

could use

them if we wanted!!-- so I don't think he intended this brace as a temp, but I

could very

well be wrong! I'm often wrong!! :-0
