Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group. Our daughter was diagnosed with positional plagio last Tuesday and we decided to go ahead with treatment. Her doc band will be in in a couple of weeks. I've read a lot about what to expect as she tries to adjust to having the band on, but can anyone tell me what to expect once treatment is over and the band is taken off? I imagine there will be another adjustment period - I'm just wondering what your experiences have been.
Guest guest
For the most part, I'd say the adjustment at the end is more about the parent adjusting to seeing their child WITHOUT a helmet 23 hours a day. My son looked so different to me! And, what's funny, is that he immediately looked taller and thinner (he had just turned 2 when he graduated), and so grown-up. Everybody couldn't get over the " transformation. " And I kept thinking I was forgetting something by not putting his band on, or having to clean it, etc. But other than that, it was easy for him. Guest guest
It took my son a couple of days to adjust to not having the band. He actually ended up sleeping in it for a couple of extra nights because he couldn't get to sleep without it! Kids that learn to crawl or walk while wearing the band also have to get use to the fact that bumping their heads on hard objects hurts now when the band is off.
