Guest guest
Hi, I am getting surgery on the NHS, and I didnt see my surgeon for ages, but then they had to wait until I was 18 until starting to plan the surgery. I think what usualy happens on the NHS is that you see the surgeon at an initial consultant, and proceed with the orthodontic treatment, and when surgery is getting closer see the surgeon again. This may not be the same for everywhere though. What type of surgery at you getting? Oh, I am up in Scotland. > > > > I am getting surgery later this year, and was wondering how difficult > > it is after leaving hospital, being back at home, having to remember > > to take all the medicines etc. and prepare food to eat? Guest guest
I think you're right. I had an appointment yesterday and had steel in my bottom and top teeth, plus coils. I go back in 6 weeks and they hope i'll be ready so then they can look at surgery. I guess then i will meet the surgeon and he will go in detail exactly what they are going to. I remember them saying it will be top, bottom and genio but that was 5 years ago and i honestly can't remember if that was my Orthodontist or the surgeon! I have been on the waiting list and started treatment last March 04. I guess i just got a bit stressed as I didn't have as much knowledge as most, but i can see they do things differently on NHS so my mind is now at ease! What are you have done? I am in Kent. > > > > > > I am getting surgery later this year, and was wondering how difficult > > > it is after leaving hospital, being back at home, having to remember > > > to take all the medicines etc. and prepare food to eat? Guest guest
I am getting the upper moved forwards, and chin moved back. Am due to get surgery later this year, and have recently got braces back on again. Do you mind if I ask how old you are? I am 18. > > > > > > > > I am getting surgery later this year, and was wondering how > difficult > > > > it is after leaving hospital, being back at home, having to > remember > > > > to take all the medicines etc. and prepare food to eat? Guest guest
I am 33 but thanks to the braces people think i am in my late twenties...what a touch! I should have had this done when i was 17 but my dentist wasn't a very good one and told me that its a 50/50 chance that my jaws will slip back, i won't be able to eat food for 6 months, its very painful...and i might not like the way I look...so after absorbing that bit of information i decided not to go through with it! now I know that all that was a complete load of rubbish, i just think he couldn't be bothered with it all and was more happy just giving me unnecessary fillings! So with constant problems i went to my now very good dentist and they refered me. i am gutted in a way that i could have had this done alot earlier and not now, esp as i am getting married in September! From my appointment yesterday they asked me to move my bottom one forward and to the left, and he said about the top i think forward...but definitely down and chin made smaller, i got the impression that they will take a bit off! Could be wrong mind!! I love that thought though as i hate my chin. > > > > > > > > > > I am getting surgery later this year, and was wondering how > > difficult > > > > > it is after leaving hospital, being back at home, having to > > remember > > > > > to take all the medicines etc. and prepare food to eat?
