Might depend on the age of your baby. Everett had his there at around 4 or 5

weeks old, it was an office procedure.

Iowa Tenotomies

Hi All,

Has anyone who travels to and from Iowa had a tenotomy there? We're expecting

that will have to have one either this next visit or the one following

this next casting and we are unsure about how they handle such things. Since we

drive in the day before and drive home immediately following our visits, and

since they almost always put us first in the day we're not sure if they'll just

cast and send us on our way or if they'll require some sort of monitoring for a

time. When our local ortho did her first tenotomies she bled so much he had to

change one of her casts the next day but all was well when he checked inside.

We're hoping they do the same there so we can get back for Thanksgiving but if

not, we'd like to know ahead of time so we can plan.

Chris

A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

It was just over 5 years ago that we did this and I really can't

remember how long they asked us to stay for a " monitoring period " . I

do remember that this was the one trip where we did stay the night

instead of driving straight back home after the appointment just to

keep an eye on to make sure she didn't have issues. I don't

remember what the length of time they wanted us to stay was though.

I don't see why you couldn't call Dr. P's nurse and ask this question-

I'm sure there's a standard post-tenotomy monitoring procedure since

so many families travel long distances for treatment- if they don't

know off-hand, they'll call you back with the answer I'm sure.

Sorry I can't be of any help.

Hi

had her tenotomy done on both feet in September in Iowa. She

had it done on a Friday morning and we stayed overnight. She was about

6 weeks old and was really fussy that whole Friday. Since we had to

fly back to California, we were glad that we stayed overnight. She was

fine on Saturday to fly back. We booked an afternoon flight.

Good luck,

Yuuko
