Guest guest
My mother who has chronic intestinal problems and considering going on the diet has started complaining about her eyes doing weird things. She notices it especially when she's talking face to face with someone, she can't focus, feels anxious and has to look away. Does this compare with what you're experiencing? Does anyone else have weird things going on with their eyes? "I have been cooking my veggies/fruits for about 45 min to an hour because I had to start adding higher quantities due to extreme fatigue. My eyes wouldn't focus, hard to move, or think, etc. I also added an iron suppliment back in when I started upping my servings/day of carbs. I started feeling better, also getting better from a flair." DarleneIntestinal DysbiosisSCD 2 weeks The new Internet Explorer® 8 - Faster, safer, easier. Optimized for Yahoo! Get it Now for Free! Guest guest
I don't know that this is the same thing but I've suffered with Alice in Wonderland Syndrome since I was young. It's not something that many neurologists recognize yet and they don't know what causes it (though there are theories - occular migraines being one of them). The main symptom for me is essentially a hallucination where my perspective gets messed up. As in, I'll see something and it will look like it's shrinking (as though it's been pulled away from me). The reason I mention it is because one of the things that happens when it acts up is that, because of that shrinking, I can't focus on any one place. I have to constantly move my eyes around the room. And, although I know that there's no reason to worry, I get really anxious. Well...terrified to be honest. I don't know if it's the same thing but it sounds similar. Unfortunately I couldn't give any advice about it though because, for me, diet hasn't had any effect one way or the other. The only thing I notice is that it's much, much worse if I'm overtired. Guest guest
Thanks everybody - I think what I have going on is not the Alice in Wonderland syndrome - that sounds really hard to deal with! My eyes just act like they are tired, but all the time - going into and out of focus, blurry, can't really tell what it is I'm looking at - like the shape is there, but it takes a while to figure out what is going on. My mind wanders, can't feel " awake " and like I can think logically about anything or hold a thought in my head for more than 2 seconds. Some lucidity every now and then. Very forgetful - difficult to conjure up information, like names or words or what I was doing a hour earlier, etc. This happened before - most of my symptoms have - as a result of a second car accident, after which I had a lot of internal trauma that wasn't addressed for several years. Possibly brain trauma, definitely stuff with my GI and reproductive organs - a lot of nerve pain/numbness, headaches, muscle spasms, arthritis, hair loss for 4 years, joint pain, skin issues like excema and psoriasis. What helped most was yoga and some body work from a very very gentle and knowledgable massage therapist that worked on the organs to release tension rather than pushing on muscles. I think changing my diet earlier would have gotten rid of the chronic distention I had developed from antibiotics though...live and learn! I have seen some other posts about body aches/ pain in back and feet, etc. That all happened to me too - the longer I have not been able to do yoga/stretch out to my fullest, the more my old aches and pains return, so I think they are all related. My toothaches have even come back after going away for a couple years! Good news is the vision stuff is gradually getting better. My flair has gone back down. I have had one day w/o blood! I feel better overall, even though I am still very fatigued. So it looks like maybe I just needed to heal up a bit. We have had a few sunny days here in Seattle over the last week, and my vision may have to do with the very low amount of sunlight getting in through the thick cloud cover this time of year - every sunny day my health has gotten better! Then on the really cloudy ones it gets worse again. I feel silly, but it seems to have so much to do with it!
