Guest guest
My daughter has always had a strong gag reflect and a protruding tongue. This is particulalyr true if she eats meals too quickly but it has improved over time. No diagnosed food allergies tho I suspect...Now the speech therapists suggest that she has a " reverse swallow " which impacts her speech (something of a lisp and signficant delays but at 11 she is speaking and reading at around a 3rd grade level) and possibly her eating. Anyone had this " reverse swallow " diagnosis and any thoughts? We are looking into some oral motor exercises which we had done in the past but stopped, and have an orthodontist following her, but she cannot tolerate a night brace. Thanks for any help.
