Guest guest
, Sounds like you're doing great!! Congratulations! The Viactiv is calcium carbonate which is absorbed less than calcium apatite or calcium citrate, so even though they taste good, you may want to switch! Guest guest
> Congradulations!!! I am hoping to have DS very soon > and hearing stories like yours is truly an inspiration > for me.I do want to ask though were they able to do > your surgery lap? Im a little concerned about that > because when i went in for my tubal i was told they > couldent do it lap because I have to much tummy fat,im > 110 pounds on the heavy side. And how was your recovery > immediatly after surgery? Tara, I try to do an update as I know when I was pre op how helpful updates were to me.. so its my way of giving back to this group which has been so helpful to me in the past. About the lpa.. It mostly depends on who your surgeon is and how comfortable they feel with the size of your abdomen.. different Drs have different comfort levels depending on thier experience. I had a high BMI of 68 and my Drs, Rabkin and Jossart who have lots of experience with larger patients were able to do mine lap.I also had a preivous lap gall bladder removal in '93 which I thought might complicate matters but was relieved to learn not all abdominal surgeries contraindicate having a lap, so I was lucky. My surgery did take a bit longer as there were adhesions from my previous surgery but they were able to handle that too.. So I feel very lucky to have had a DS Lap. My recovery was not as bad as I expected. I had read a lot on this list and others about what to expect so had a good feel for what to be prepared for. I was very pleased with the pain control, and was very cautious about what I ate as my tummy was very particular. So I babied it with very small portions and not too hot and not too cold. The hardest part for me before surgery and after was mobility. I did stay in a hotel for a week after surgery with my husband as I lived 7 hrs drive away... it would have been hard getting up without him there those first few days after discharge but it really wasnt bad at all. All in all, considering what I have read about what others have gone thru I feel very lucky indeed and have had no real complaints. mary corona,ca
