Guest guest
Actually, I think there are different kinds. Some you exhale and some you inhale. Hopefully, they come with instructions! Guest guest
I have DJD (ostroarthritis or wear and tear arthritis) in my left knee and have used a cane, relied on the electric cart for the store. And going up or down the steps was possible only one leg at a time. My orthopedist thought that I would need a knee replacement in time. I now can walk effortlessly. I have started walking up and down stairs without difficulty. As far as the balloons, it increases your respiratory effort since you have to blow against the resistance of the balloon. This helps to develop your respiratory capacity. Incentive spirometry is designed to mimic natural sighing or yawning by encouraging the patient to take long, slow, deep breaths. This is accomplished by using a device that provides patients with visual or other positive feedback when they inhale at a predetermined flowrate or volume and sustain the inflation for a minimum of 3 seconds. The objectives of this procedure are to increase transpulmonary pressure and inspiratory volumes, improve inspiratory muscle performance, and re-establish or simulate the normal pattern of pulmonary hyperinflation. When the procedure is repeated on a regular basis, airway patency may be maintained and lung atelectasis prevented and reversed. in Seattle all, thanks for chilling on the hate mail. > > First, I don't understand how we are supposed to use the balloons to get us > Second, I have severe degenerative arthritis, exacerbated by weight. My big hope was that loss of weight would lessen my problems not increase > them leave others to do the job! "
