Guest guest
You need to be concerned about low potassium and magnesium. If potassium is low enough, it can be life threatening. Without magnesium your potassium levels won't come up and your calcium can be a real problem. All of these labs are very important. in Seattle > I just got the results from my 3 month blood work and am wondering if > there is a place where i can go to find out what they all mean and to > know if everything is alright? > they did say that my potassium and magnesium is low but i want to know > what my protein level is. but i dont know what the protein level would > be listed under on this sheet i got from my doc > any help would be great thanks: > Carol L
Guest guest
Thank you sue for responding to my question about what blood work I should have completed. I did go and have a panel done. The reports came back that my b12 was very low and so is my iron. I had been taking b12 shots, but stopped and I have started them again. The iron issue is another matter. I have no large intestines, had a complete illiostomy a long time ago and then had my weight loss surgery four years ago. So needless to say, absorbing the iron is an issue. The DR has talked about sending me to a hematologist, and giving me IV's to accomplish boosting my level. Anyone have any other info. they can give me along these lines? Thanks for your knowledge. Guest guest
Judi, I too had low iron but this was before surgery and my intestines were normal. I was in a world of hurt. I was sent to a hematologist and he gave me iron infusions, that is where they give you iron through IV. It takes quite a while to finish an appointment. They have to give you a little and you have to wait in the office before you can continue, take something to read if they go ahead with this. One more bit of advise...don't plan this just prior to anything important to you. It gave me one heck of a headache for days and days, I was told that was normal. I wish you all the luck in the world and you will feel unbelievably better once they get you iron level up. Vicki
