sleeping with the bar

an encouraging story for those starting this phase of treatment:

Zeke can sleep in some of the strangest looking positions with his

brace. He's been in the brace almost two years now (I can't believe

it's been that long-seems like only a year at most,it has gone

quickly after the first break-in period) One of his favorite

positions has a foot stuck up straight in the air, held up like a

flag by his brace. The other day I popped him in bed for a nap,

braceless since he only wears it 12 hours, and as he snuggled in to

get comfy, he stuck his foot up in the air and looked dismayed when

it wouldn't just stay there!

It does get to be just another part of bedtime; Zeke is very content

to wear the brace and in fact I think he finds it comforting. I can

put it on, in the dark, in just minutes. So if it's not easy right

now, and frustrating, and sleep depriving for everybody, hang in

there, use this group to get answers and support, and before you

know it you will be around this corner of life.

Thank you for the encouragement! Mason got his DBB yesterday and I

have now been up for 36 hours straight with him. He is finally asleep

in his reclining pumpkin seat and I'm thinking that if he is comfy in

there, I may just skip the crib all together for the next few days!

Everett slept in his swing his first three months or so! Do what you gotta do

to get some rest! :)
