Guest guest
Liz, I have heard that some children have an uncanny ability to find products that contain gluten or casein. Some parents say that their children eat paper, butter sticks, etc. All of those products could have gluten or casein and your child could be getting their " fix " off of them.\ F. Mom of three boys Salt, soap and shving cream craving > Help! Would anyone know why a child craves salt? Also, my son eats soap and > shaving cream. Guest guest
I also heard a story - at a lecture - of a child who drank her mother's liquid foundation for her gluten fix. Sounds like an alcholic drinking cough medicine for the buzz...... Moira > Liz, > > I have heard that some children have an uncanny ability to find products > that contain gluten or casein. Guest guest
I would assume that there is something in them that he is allergic to!! See if they all have a 'like' ingredient. Guest guest
My older son used to eat salt by the handfull. I know that having him on the diet and finding the right balance of supplements (for him) seemed to cure it. Either that or he just outgrew it on his own (he's 5 1/2 now). He also still loves cinnamon, which I know to be highly phenolic, and it really sets him off. He never ate soap or shaving cream, but was always putting rocks in his mouth. Our kids have such weird sensory issues that who knows what these things smell and taste like to them. Hope this helps.
