Guest guest
Maddie received her s yesterday. I love them. She, however, is not a big fan of them thus far. I'm pretty sure it's because she got used to total freedom for a few weeks while the staph healed. So far, no irritation, pressure sores, or blisters. Any advice on getting her used to them? Thanks. One more thing. Anybody else have trouble with siblings and jealousy about clubfoot. gets jealous that Maddie gets casts and braces. Plus she gets jealous of all the " fun " trips to the hosptial that Maddie gets to make. has even started " making up " her own memories about how when she was a baby, she had casts all the time, but they were always pink. I've tried to explain to her that Maddie does not have any fun with this, but it doesn't seem to matter. Guest guest
I think they get jealous of all the attention. Also, they don't remember being a baby so they may figure all babies go thru this. I say this because I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old who were 4.5 and 2.5 when dd was born. My 3 year old is a girl and has me put casts on her babies and wants to have a bar between their shoes and wants to rip the tabs off the pretend diapers (since dd is now in a spica we rip the tabs off the diapers before we shove them up in the cast). She just thinks that's normal or she's just acting out what she sees. She is exposed to " normal " babies so it's not that she doesn't see babies without all these contraptions. Guest guest
That is so cute! My son on the other hand is a baby when it comes to getting her casted, shots, or any other thing she has to get at her appointments. He is a lot older than her and when she was casted with Dr.P he cried and cried. When she gets her shots he cries also. Needless to say, he does not accompany us to many apppointments anymore. But, he does play the " big brother " when she gets fussy about putting her shoes on. He tells her to lay down and let me put her shoes " or your feet will get crooked again and you won't be able to walk or run or play. " She settles down and I put her shoes on while he talks to her. It is really sweet to watch though.. and BL CF 12/16/03 mdfrye1 wrote: Maddie received her s yesterday. I love them. She, however, is not a big fan of them thus far. Guest guest
Aw, the poor little girls. Maybe a little fantasy on her part isn't so bad. Or play along and apply some cast thing to her so she can understand the non-fun of it all holding her back from the freedom of her legs. Once in a while seems a tad jealous that Everett got the " good " treatment. And I believe still fairly believes all babies are born club footed. He asked about my mom's foster new-born a while back having cf. the shoes have arrived Maddie received her s yesterday. I love them. She, however, is not a big fan of them thus far. Guest guest
Yeah we are but you know sometimes he is a " little " too protective! We had a church event a couple of weeks ago and since she was tired of sitting we took her for a walk. Well she saw a couple of kids running around so she decided to run with them. Unfortunetly they did not see her and knocked her down. She started crying and when I went to pick her up my son asks me " Where are those boys that knocked her down?!' I explained to him it was an accident and that they did not see her but he tells me " But they made her cry! " So it's a good thing and sometimes he takes his Big Brother job a little too far! and volng8r1 wrote: Awww- this is just the sweetest thing! Guest guest
That's cute. You'll just have to explain to him that he doesn't necessarily have to beat people up to take care of her! I'm a big sis and always protected my little sis. One day a friend of my father's was over and my sister had a crush on him so was bugging him endlessly. We were outside and she was running by him and tried to slap at him (once again)- he stuck out his foot and tripped her. Would have been fine, but I watched her slide on her belly across the grass toward the bumper of our car. She ducked her head just in time and slid under the front of the car. I lost it and jumped on the man, smacking him with my little fists. My mom had to pull me off of him. That's when she had the little " you should not hit adults " talk with me! In the end she was proud of me for sticking up for her, but recommended I not do that again. Jenn > > Maddie received her s yesterday. I love them. Guest guest
, being 5 years older than Everett, has difficulty understand the concept he is NOT the parent! Every day I find myself telling him, " , he's my child, I'll take care of him! " or " You are not his parent! " or in extreme cases I remind he is the resident 7 year old, he is a CHILD too. He hates being reminded he's a kid. I'm curious how it'll pan out with two babies in the house soon. It's that thin line between asking him to be the older big brother setting good examples and still be one of the kids and not one of the adults. s. Re: the shoes have arrived That's cute. Guest guest
ee- I wish you luck with that! I can just imagine a little boy with his chest poked out telling you what should be done with the babies! I imagine with 2 of them.....well, again I wish you luck!
