My question today is how to deal with the food withdrawl.

What have others of you done? I am scheduled to have surgery at the

end of June. I am very excited but I am scared to death of how to

deal with the food withdrawl.

I think I understand the question, because I have thought the same thing. I am

a food addict. I eat many times not because I am hungry but because it is what

I do. I think that the question is do you guys who are post-op have a lot of

trouble dealing with the mental side of the surgery when it comes to food

cravings. I am afraid that I am going to miss food too and crave all kinds of

stuff that I should not have and drive myself crazy with it.

Re: food withdrawl?

What do you mean by food withdrawal? I never felt like I had food

withdrawal, in fact if anything I felt the opposite---like I was

getting too much food after my surgery. I had a real difficult time

getting enough protein/calories in for several months and my

nutritionist had to keep telling me to eat more to keep my nutrition

up. For the first few months after surgery I HAD NO HUNGER. I felt

full after just a few bites. Of course that is part of what the

surgery is supposed to do, satisfy our hunger sooner so we eat less.

I think you'll do just fine with the surgery and you'll be surprised

at how little you feel like eating. Some of us do have to do

with " head hunger " and maybe thats what you're worried about. I'm

sure others on the board will have some good suggestions for that.

Good luck!
