I can't speak directly to the size discrepancy between the normal and the

clubfoot except to say that sometimes there is a pretty big difference between

the 2.

I can tell you though that my son, with bilateral clubfoot, has small feet that

took a long time to really start growing. He was in the same pair of size 0

Markells for nearly a year before he needed bigger shoes! He spent about 6

months in the size 1, but he's picked up the pace quite a bit. In the last 7

months, he's gone through 2 Markell sizes. He's 2.5 now and on the small side

for height/weight and he only wears a size 5 shoe--the size an average

1.5-year-old would wear. It was a relief to me when his feet started growing.

Hopefully, a similar thing will happen with your son.

see Dr. H tomorrow and will ask, but I was just trying to get a

My daughter has bilateral clubfoot and her feet are both pretty small as well.

She is now 20 months and still only wears a size 4 - although she's getting

close to being a 5. Her feet are finally starting to grow, and it took a long

time. I think that small feet are common with clubfoot kids. I wouldn't worry

too much about it, but definitely ask your doctor about it tomorrow for peace of

mind.

Naomi and ,

Thanks, I'm feeling a little better now. On the plus side, I never did his

footprints at birth, so I decided no big deal, the foot is about the same

size anyways. :-) and Logan

Hi ,

Just wanted to add that I remember thinking the same thing about our

daughter Gracies feet when she was the same age as Logan, she has

unilateral right. Her left foot looked so much bigger to me with

my 'mommy eagle eyes' hehe. I remember putting her first pair of baby

booties on her after she came out of her 23/7 wear and the left one

fitting just right and the right one falling off.

Now that her feet are bigger and better formed, I would guess that the

difference is probably closer to a half size than a full size between

the two. Remember that there is still a lot of baby chub there, you

won't really know what the size difference will be until he's a bit

older (just one more thing to worry about huh lol, you sound like me

totally lol).

Not sure if or how this relates but when got out of the whole ATTT thing

he was 2 years 6 months old. This was the first time he could wear shoes at all

and his feet were short in length yet very high from ground to top. They mostly

remain that way. A shoe that will fit the high instep (?) on him will generally

be about 2 sizes too long for his toes. I remember going in shoe stores with

him and trying not to spy on other children who were about his same general

age/size to see what size they were wearing on their normal feet cuz I had no

idea how to buy for his feet. Just one of those dumb things ya know. I found

back then the New Balance shoes fit him PERFECTLY and he wore them for a couple

years then NB started making their shoes different so that was the end of that.
