I have heard good things about vitamin C, plus the general recommendation of bed rest and frequent nose blowing and hand washing. I would recommend that if your child is not 100% over the cold, that you postpone the surgery. I know that is not a good thing for you to consider, because of the other issues and because the surgery has already been postponed. But to me, it is similar to vaccines, you don't want anything dramatic like surgery [or vaccines] to be occurring unless your child's immune system is 100%.
