Guest guest
>>It was my WLS surgeon who prescribed them. I don't have a PCP, that's why it kind of concerned me. I figured he would tell me to let the surgery work and not worry about it, but he wrote out a prescription for diet pills and that kind of threw me for a loop.<< -- I would be concerned. Do you know how long your common channel is? Who is your surgeon, is there an on-line group for him and is there anyone else he has prescribed these for? IF, like Joy Frost, your surgeon left you with a proximal common channel, you may not be mal-absorbing to the usual extent. She had a 250 cm common channel, which is extraordinarily long for a true DS procedure. We usually get one from 50 to 100 cm long. Plus her surgeon did not make her stomach very small, either, so she could eat more than most post-ops do. You need to ask him what size he has made you over to-- both common channel and stomach. And you need to talk to some of his other patients and see how you compare.-- just my opinion-- and I am by no means an expert Nan E. 5'2 " , 368 20 pounds off in panni waiting for a DS date with Dr. Anthone in CA ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
> Thanks, Nan. You put it in perspective for me. I will quit sniveling and be happy with my 5 or 6 lb. loss for the month and I will not take the diet pills. They make me feel like crap and I get snappy and short tempered with my family. It's just not worth it. I had this surgery so I would never have to do that kind of stuff again. , according to what our Dr. Crookes told us at our last meeting, > yes, a slow down in weight loss IS perfectly NORMAL! It starts our at a > good clip, and slows down, and ultimately at about 18 to 24 months out, > stops, and your weight stabilizes. What'd you think, that it goes on at > a zillion pounds a week and suddenly stops when you reach your " goal " ? > Don't take those stinking pills. And Who the heck is this M.D.? > Nan E. > 5'2 " , 368 > 20 pounds off in panni on June 13, 2001 > waiting for a DS date with Dr. Anthone in CA > ________________________________________________________________ > GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! > Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! > Join Juno today!
