Guest guest
I know I dont want nas feet to relapse because it just feels like its taken so much to get to this point. na's dorsiflexion scores are both 15. She doesnt seem to mind when I put them on during the day. I was just thinking that maybe the bar hurt her or maybe doesn't even hurt, she just cant move as well and she gets frustrated......I dont know-its so hard to tell. Dr. Alvarez told me to have it at 45 degrees but I heard from everyone here that it was supposed to be at 70. I dont think na is ready for that. I think maybe I will just keep na in the AFO's until Dr. Pirani gets back. I have to bring her to the family doc's tommorrow cuz I think her skin might be infected still from the casts 3 weeks ago .. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Re: Boots and Bars >Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2006 05:06:24 -0000 > >Once her feet are properly corrected, you won't have any >problems!!!!! Guest guest
If you're on your way to see a Ponseti qualified doctor, I guess I would just opt to keep a in a " holding pattern " until then - say with the AFO's. I doubt she'll gain anything but I doubt she'll lose enough to matter either at this point. The FAB on uncorrected feet, and a FAB set in-correctly can both cause a kid a great deal of discomfort, sores, etc. s. Guest guest
I dont know if the skin irratation is due to improper casting-cuz they used a stockanette after her surgery for the first time instead of the usual stuff they used and na's skin still broke down-maybe not as quick but it still did- I have taken na to a dermatologist over this and she said na has overly sensitive skin as well as baby exzema. Last nite, na had her Boots and Bars on and she was really fussy-I thought she was just tired. Then she kept crying so I took the bar off and that didnt settle her either so I took the boots off and she stopped crying-it was never a bad cry-just a little whining here and there- but I dont know maybe her feet arent corrected enough. The Afo's seem to keep her position well so we wont lose any dorsiflexion until we go see Dr. Pirani-----I hope and wish > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Re: Boots and Bars >Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2006 06:08:06 -0000 > >Awww poor little thing, hope your doc finds that she's ok!!!!!!! > >I totally hear ya , you have been through a LOT to get to >where you are at! Guest guest
Thanks for the compliments Yeah, at the orthotists office after na's surgery, we fitted her for the Dennis Browne boots however she was very sensitive and screamed so we decided not to go with them and finish the AFO's instead. The next day we went to her appt with Dr. Alvarez and her and the orthotist both decided that we could try to put the AFO's inside the boots and bars to see if that would work. Of course it didnt. na just kicked them off along with her AFO's. So those were only used for one day. So we went back after the weekend and she was fitted again for the boots and bars and thats when the problems started that I already mentioned. > >Candi, >I just happened to run across na's pictures that you put in the >photos section of the group. Guest guest
The bar she has on in the pics we dont have anymore. The bar she has now is a lot longer. So I am not sure what the problem was. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Re: Boots and Bars >Date: Sat, 28 Jan 2006 01:51:30 -0000 > >I didn't know that you had posted pics...she is just tooo cute =) >Looks like she has lots of socks lol, all our babies do me thinks. Guest guest
Hayden says he can't wait to see his girlfriend again because she is lookin' FINE! Hee hee! So glad you are set up to see Dr. Pirani - you're gonna love him! Call me when you are in town and I'll come out with you if you want. We'll be about due for an appointment then anyway.
