Guest guest
Do stay positive. I believe that the spacers are often the most difficult adjustment to make. They hurt in a way you're not accustomed to hurting, and it's the first step in a bunch of things you'll need to adjust to. The bad news: Prepare yourself for a mouthful of " spiky metals, " unless you're having Invisalign, and I don't think they use spacers for Invisaligns. But, the good news: You'll get used to them pretty quickly. The first night with all the brackets and wires, my mouth felt like I had a mouthful of fishhooks or carpet tacks. I soon got accustomed to it (and used lots of wax and silicone) and by the time I was done, that part of it didn't bother me, unless my ortho added something new, or my teeth moved so that the spiky things attacked a new and tender area. Even so, I soon learned to adjust. Do stay positive. you will get through all this, and the rewards will be many. Once you're all done, you'll look back and think it really didn't take SUCH a long time, really -- even if now it looks as though you're headed toward eternity. As for the baby quandary -- I'm not the one to give advice on that. I've known people who have chosen each of the possible approaches and been happy, or unhappy -- but most are happy when they have a " new " mouth and a new baby, whatever the sequence.
