Guest guest
Christee, This is interesting to me. My son Karter had that problem with the Markells, we have not had it yet with the s. He also has alot of extra skin on his feet. When trying to get an IV in on different occasions they have not been able to, due to the extra skin and how tough the skin is. Hope the 4 straps work and keep us updated. Thanks Tabitha Christee wrote: I just wanted to give an update on how things are going. Lilee's foot seems to be good, and flexable. She still has one leg longer than the other that the Dr.'s refuse to follow-up and address, but I am still watching and researching this myself. Lilee does hold her foot kinda inwards sometimes when not in the brace. More so, her heel turns inwards. I dont think it is something to worry about since she is maintaining correction? Her foot and leg/ankle are so FAT, we are having some issues with the 's. We love them and they are SO much better than the Markells for her A-Typical/Complex CF. But I think she has more than average fat and skin there than most. She gets red marks where the middle strap is. These red marks do NOT go away, then get hot, it seems to loosen the skin, then the skin peels off leaving a sore. It doesnt develop a blister. So and a local Orthotist here where I live and brainstorming up some ideas to help Lilee, and others possibly that have the same kind of issue. At this point let me say this, sont let this post discourage you from getting the s! They are WONDERFUL! My daughter just has an overly difficult foot reguarding this area! I am sure there is only maybe a 5% max chance your child would have the issues I am having! I have spoken with Dr. P about this, and he says that fat feet have alot of extra tissue. They are real sensitive, and their skin breaks down easier, and they can develop sores easier. With that said, here is what we have dont with the s so far, and are going to do...So far alls we have done is move the middle buckle lower twards the sole and further forwards by about 1/2-3/4 " . This has seemed so far to improve those red marks greatly and her red marks are disapearing and her sores are healing! THIS IS GOOD! I do notice I have to make the top strap a tad tighter to hold her foot back. The top strap hits her at about mid calf level. So they are sending more leather material. They will be making 2 straps that will go around her calf. This will make the top part slightly taller. This will also mean that her sandals will have 4 straps instead of the standard 3. This will help even out pressure and hold her foot back even better. I think it'll work! I am so excited!
