Guest guest
Thanks Tim, I havent had surgery yet. I ve had my liver enzymes tested sevral times, I also had an ultrasound and who would of guessed it? I have fat around my liver! I was wondering if this gets better after WLS or if this problem can be a complication for having WLS? ThanksUncle Timmy wrote: A fatty liver (NASH, NonAlcoholic SteatoHepatitis, BTW) is faitly common with us bari-peeps (especially those of us who have been obese for decades and are (or were) diabetic. Symptoms are usually mild, and there are a few tests on your semiannual lab work which will allow your PCP to keep an eye on it: ALT and Bilirubin are measures of liver function. The BUN test is primarily for kidney function, but a low BUN may indicate liver problems. For an in-depth explanation of all the lab tests you (should be) having on a regular basis, I recommend a visit to: labtestsonline.org. Guest guest
Reducing the fat around our internal organs is one of the reasons for the 10% rule. I haven't seen any studies of fatty liver patients after WLS, but given the improvements in other pre-op conditions (diabetes, hypertension, apnia, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if the fatty liver improved too. > > > > Has anyone had a problem with a fatty liver and having WLS? > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Love cheap thrills?
