Hi, I am new to this group, but a HUGE supporter no less! Our story

started with an ultrsound done at around the sixth month on our

pregnancy. We had many ultrasounds because we have twins. They

noticed during this ultrasound that one child had bi-lateral

clubfoot. At the time we were told that there were couple doctors in

the area (Des Moines, Iowa) that would be able to help us and that

with a couple of surgeries Macie would be just fine. As soon as we

got home I started to collect all of the information that I could

regarding clubfoot and we decided that we would travel anywhere that

we had to find the best care for our daughter. After only a couple

of sites it became apparent to me that there were lots of other

options to surgery, mainly the Ponseti Method.

Three weeks after birth and many months of fighting the insurance

company to allow us to save them thousands of dollars and get the

best care for Macie we were clear to go see Ponseti. Macie's feet

were quite severe with deep creases on both feet. After 8 casts we

followed on with the shoes and felt that she was doing great. On

Wednesday we had a follow up appointment with Dr. Ponseti and learned

that at 20 months of age Macie's left foot is relapsing. We have

been very consistant with her brace and she wears it every night so

this came as a shock to us. He said that most likely they will need

to do a tendon transfer between 2 1/2 and 3 years. I am hoping to

get any information that I can from any parents who have went through

this or are going through this. I know that we are in the very best

hands but just need as much information as I can get. I have looked

online and haven't had much luck. Any help would be much

appreciated. Thanks -
