Guest guest
What did Dr Ponseti tell you? Honestly, after spending the time and emotion, not to mention money, to go to Iowa, we did exactly what he said to do, and that is my suggestion to you. You have gone to great lengths to see that Lillee's foot was corrected properly. Do not put that in jepordy now by not following thru the instructions to a T. I know the brace is annoying, but it is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the process, and using in the way Dr Ponseti advises should assure that Lillee's foot KEEPS that correction. If you don't do that ... you will have completely wasted a trip to Iowa. Guest guest
We are at the stage of cutting hours and our doctor recommended starting reduction with 6 weeks of 20 hours a day. After this our doctor will check Ethan's feet before saying what the next step will be. Hope this helps Kathy and Ethan (mitchells 23/24 - Reducing to 20/24 on Wednesday -Yipee!) --- Christee wrote: --------------------------------- Can anyone tell me what their Dr. recommended after the 23/7 and for how long. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Oh, believe me, I know! Dr. Ponseti told me 18/24, but I see others are going to 20/24 after the 3 months. This is why I ask! He told me in this order... 22/24 for 3 months 18/24 for 2 years 16/24 for 6 months 12/14 until she is 4-5 depending on the degree of stiffness So thats alot different than most peoples! This is why I ask. Not because she has to wear the braces alot longer, but more wondering is I should do the 20/24 befor ethe 18/24 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
The protocol for atypical clubfoot is not always the same as for regular. In fact, it can vary widely. Kai went to 16/24 after we finally got everything straightened out, because he was walking and because there were other issues. Sadie, if I remember correctly was 20/24 for a very long time, with at 10* angle. Again, it had to do with her specific issues. Even in your case ... instead of 23/24 he said do 22/24. Now ... for her comfort, you might want to take her down to 20/24 for a week, then down to 18/24, but there is no reason to keep her in it longer if he did not think it necessary.
