Almost at 2 months straight with a bad flare trying to get things under control. I've bene eating nothing but beef, chicken, fish, avocado, grape juice, apple cider, yogurt, DCCC, eggs, and very little cheddar cheese. I tried mashed butternut squash 2 nights ago, and today I had a huge setback. It may be because of the medicine i'm on, but may not... very hard to tell right now.Butternut squash was one of the first things I could tolerate a year ago when I first started this diet. I guess that can change due to a flare??For anyone with experience, after a bad flare could you introduce foods faster than before? I'm losing way way too much weight.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 8 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 12 pills a day Prednisone 40mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now. ,I'm in a similar situation as far as certain dairy foods go -- I cannot tolerate yogurt or DCCC. I take Carlson's lemon flavored Cod Liver Oil from whole Foods and have felt so much better ever since taking it. I felt it has helped reduce inflammation. I also use fatty oils like coconut oil to cook almost everything. The health benefits are too numerous to name here.Instead of yogurt, I now take a legal Acidophilus which works just fine for me. Talk to some other members and see what they say, but I think the dairy has something to do with it from the way you describe it.Also, try asking some other members about natural antifungals like Oil of Oregano. I feel like that really helped me when I first needed to get everything under

control.

I'm pretty interested in Oil of Oregano actually. But don't want to start it

until I know more, esp from folks on this list. So if anyone has any info, I'll

definitely be listening. Thanks!

Actually DCCC was huge with every meal I ate (6 or more months into

the diet when I found it). For some reason now, it has to be cooked

into something or I do not do well with it--at all. So, yes things

change for no apparent reason. Could be the batch, could try again

later and see if it's ok. How it's prepared could be a reason why.

Just drop back down a level then when you are feeling better, try

other things until you think you want to try the b-nut squash. I

never could eat it--still don't want to try again.

I made a huge bowl of jelly gelatin with 2 c. of juice instead of

honey. It's satisfying for some reason. It's just sweet enough and

light enough.

,Forgot to put that I use Oil of Oregano as well as virgin coconut oil, and also raw carrot/garlic juice. All are anti-bacterial/fungal. I just rotate between the 3. However, when I went with nothing but meat for a week I cut these out too since I've been told they can irritate the gut.For those that want to know,Oil of Oregano can be bought at almost any store and especially a healthfood store. You can get it in softgels (tiny) or as a liquid. The liquid is much cheaper and is what I use. I just fill a shot glass with water, drop a couple drops of the oil on top and shoot it like a shot. If the oil hits your throat it will burn, fair warning.Coocnut oil I use the gold label from tropicaltraditions.com This also burns my throat is I try to take a big enough spoonful of it at one time.I have a juicer and I juice about 5 decent size organic carrots, and 2 small cloves of garlic. More or less to taste. When I first started I could only do one clove of garlic but now i'm getting used to it and I use up to 3 cloves at once. This has probably had the greatest effect for me so far. I drink it before bed on an empty stomach, and then use one of the other 2 (coconiut or oregano) in the morning before I eat anything. Before I started the SCD diet I took ALOT of oil or oregano and it helped noticably. I would take it 6-10 times a day.... I smelled like oregano but there are alot of worse things I can think of to smell like... -UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 8 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 12 pills a day Prednisone 40mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: BTVC-SCD From: dozerregan@...Date: Fri, 19 Mar 2010 17:34:09 -0700Subject: RE: After a bad flare, ever had the foods you tolerate change?

Yeah, I was doing that but simmering for 1 hr (like I do all my food) to get it

really really mushy. I ran out of time with schoolwork, so I got excited that I

could eat one store-bought thing. I get the same burny feeling from at-home

apples as store-bought applesauce. Pears don't do it, so I'm not sure it's the

fructose.

Do apples make the body more acidic? As opposed to other acidic foods that I

have heard make the body more alkaline?

Thanks for the tip. I know cabbage is fibrous too. I just ran out of veggies to

eat after eliminating some because of yeast. Cabbage comes out not smelly,

formed, and w/o pain or burny feeling, so I figured it would be okay in small

amounts. I've stopped it for a while till I get the flair under control though.
