Guest guest
Hi all, I saw my OD on Tuesday. When he passed me in the waiting room he went: Is it still loose? I say: yep, it is. Then I get in the chair , he takes a look and checks it out and then all he said was: Oh so this is what you are taking about. Well, you haven't seen a loose tooth! I am a worrier and have loads of questions especially when it comes to teeth. My dentist knows this and I am grateful for her incredible patience with me. I like to know what is going on in my mouth. I guess that is not unreasonable. And I am used to my teeth being firmly in their places and when one is moving even a tiny bit it is a loose tooth to me. I didn't have time to ask any more questions. He adjusted the lower wires a bit and then said I was good to go. Got my next appointment and when I was about to leave he asked me to grin , took a look and asked me how much time I was given for next time. I said I didn't know how much time the assistant allotted to me. He went to check and from the look on his face I knew he wasn't happy but then I left the office. Needless to say, my mind began to go around what he said and a fter a few days I began thinking: Ok so I haven't seen a loose tooth yet but what if it gets worse???!!! My husband had an appointment for cleaning with our dentist and I went with him to seek her advice. I asked her what exactlyí happens with a loose tooth. She explained that the bone dissolved in the direction of pulling and probably on the other side bone has not had ti me to build yet and now the socket is too big and it takes ti me for the tooth to resettle. Then she added that with that tooth being half unsupported (had the tooth behing it extracted) and given that it is the only place where my teeth touch it is under extreme pressure so it sounds normal. Nothing to worry about. My husband already in the chair asks me if I was happy with the asnwer. I say Yes and then he goes: Let's hope this lasts. He means my subsided fears. So now I try to live with this. I just wish the ortho had taken the two minutes it took to explain. I trust him as a spacialist but he is sometimes too snappy and occasionally I feel I am a burden with my questions but well, he just has to put up with it. I am sorry about what Jane has to put up with that surgeon. I would tell him to go play somewhere else... Karola
Guest guest
I mean this in no disrespectful way but with my team of ortho and OS I wonder if some of there concerns for me have more to do with their pocket books. When my OS said, Baby I didn't drag you off the street and make you have this! " I thought to myself yes but I also wasn't given any other options either and I did feel duped into going on with the process by leaving out pertinent information like the actual recovery timeand what that would entail. I love my general practitioner he is patient and kind and thourough and so is my obgyn and my ortho is actually preety understanding mostly I just wonder sometimes if I am a patient or dollar sign.
