Guest guest
Hi folks, I'm feeling confused and discouraged. Whereas people used to look at me in scorn and disgust when I weighed 333 pounds, I'm still getting negative comments at 128 pounds. The difference is that I am now being told I look " gaunt " or " anorexic " . Even my plastic surgeon told me he thought I should gain 10 pounds to fill out my face and upper body a bit. These are all people who are close to me (family and friends) making these comments. I am 5'5 " and do not think 128 pounds is unreasonable. Am I in the same kind of denial about my weight as I was when I was heavy? I'm so tired of other people making me feel bad about my body. Does it ever end?? from Washington Lap RNY Sept 2001 Minus 205 pounds 333.5/128.5 http://www.wworw.com
Guest guest
No...you are not too thin, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Your BMI is still in the normal range. Most of us who lose all our weight go through the " gaunt " or " refugee " period..where our weight needs to redistribute. I got down to 126 at 5'6 " , and I really liked myself. My BMI was 20.3...still very normal. You aren't in any denial. You don't die from being too thin, only from malnutrition. Don't TRY to gain any weight. Believe me...I haven't tried and have put on a few now. I have to accept it..as it is what they call bounce back...and my hubby is happy....I have a butt again....and all's well with the world...I guess. Still, really wanting to feel a bit boney. Yeah...it ends when you put a stop to it. Like says...you can't bring your loss in on a dime...but sometimes go past your goal weight...but eventually, you do readjust....so don't worry about the refugee look...it goes all too soon...IMNSHO! It is not the scale or size or comments from others. It is your health.
