Guest guest
First and most importantly, acknowledge how great you've done loosing 87 lbs!! You must feel better than when you started. Next, start over - stop thinking about past grazing, carbs, etc. and go from here. Sometimes, if I messed up my diet in the morning, that was it for the day! But a wise person told me that just because you spill a glass of milk, does that mean you go to the fridge and pour out the gallon? NO!!! You start over, no matter what part of the day it is. Get back on track: Replacing a meal with a shake is really helpful. I have a great recipe - 1.5 cups of 4 mix frozen berries, 1 scoop whey powder, 1 tbs flax oil, 1 tsp splenda & 1c light vanilla soy milk. It comes out almost like ice cream!! Even my kids love it. Chew gum or brush your teeth when you are about to snack. All food tastes yucky in a minty mouth! Deep breathe a few times, then wait a full 15 minutes before snacking. You'll be suprised that the urge usually passes in that time. If you still need a snack, go a head, but make it a half portion. Be aware of your surroundings: I had tunnel vision when it came to food. Look at something else, get out of the kitchen, go for a short walk, do a 15 minute project, anything to get your mind off food. Be kind to yourself. Stop beating yourself up. I was in that horrible cycle before surgery - I would eat, feel guilty and angry, which naturally caused me to eat more. Lastly, remember that you have friends here who are understand. Keep posting. You WILL get through this!!! 11/18/03 284/249 preop/

Guest guest
Hello, It has not been a easy road for me either. I fought with food and still do. I have channeled my energy to other areas, I bought a bike and went for rides, walked and now have the confidence to work out in a gym. I now have focused on what I want to do not sitting on the couch thinking about it but doing it. We had food to fall back on now we have to find something else to fall back on, mine is exercise. I work in Law Enforcement and also teach Criminal Justice. I could not have taught at 560lbs because I did not have the confidence as I do now. I have modified my diet to a Atkins type to fit me and it has worked very well.
