House

Hi All!Just wanted to mention that tonight's episode of House actually mentioned neurosarcoidosis as a possible diagnosis. It turned out not to be that after high pred dosing, but I was surprised to hear it mentioned in such a popular show. Public awareness is so important if we want to someday find a cure...Take Care,Dawn

You know why it can never be the definitive diagnosis...no cure, but I am like you. At least people have heard the word. Another interesting thing I saw was Hollywoods 5

Argh I hit the wrong button. I also saw a special called Hollywood's 15 worst tragedies, & #5 was the death of Bernie Mack. They actually admitted that he had sarcoidosis, and why he died, and the doctor described it correctly, not just the usual casual definition. I wish he had felt like he could have been an advocate before he passed away, like J Fox has been for Parkinson's. I guess he felt like he couldn't risk it.

Oh well, if the dog keeps barking long enough, someone will get up and see what's going on.

Take care all,

Connie

Hi,

I was surprised also to hear it mentioned on House. I saw an episode about a year ago and sarc was mentioned. This was the first time for me. I guess thay are putting it into the script more often. Now more people should write in and ask "what is Sarc"

Im over here in England and we watch House over here as well, and as stated they always mention sarc in alot of episodes, which led me to believe that it was very common over in the U.S. and was well researched. Over here in England it isn't that common and I have only meet one person who has Neurosarcoidosis.

My neurologist has lowered my steroids down to 7.5 mg which I am happy with, and so far I haven't had a flare up. God willing I will be off them soon, but Im going to be patient and take everyday as it comes. And also I feel like me again, I have lots of energy and walking, no backs aches or headaches.Things are looking up, for something that took over my life 2 years ago, Im fighting the battle. xxx

I think since Bernie Mac died of it we might hear more about it.  I know any  chance I get to tell people that is what Bernie Mac died of, there like wow really.  I am always educating people on this disease, we too are one of the best ways to get the word

Sarcoidosis out in to the public, and what it is. In fact, a funny story,  My " Nurse " manager from my health insurance called me to ask if I had any questions regarding my diagnosis, that she had been online researching it, WELL after an

hour and a half on the phone, she was well educated about the disease, and I asked her if she had any questions, that was neat.   I think I should apply for her job?  \Marla May the Lord bless you and keep you,

May the Lord make his face to shine uponYou,And be gracious to you;May the Lord lift up his favor upon you and give you his peace.(Numbers 6:24-26)

Marla, that is so awesome that you got to share with her the perils of sarcoidosis. It sounds as if she was willing to be educated.

OVer at FSR--www.stopsarcoidosis.org - The Gardener has put together a line of T-shirts where they have great statements about sarc--- and the monies go to Sarc Research! This is a sister site, so to speak, they do allow us to be included in their other online groups section--- so that those with NS can see that there is more out there.

Last I looked, they've taken the #1 space for members and we are the #2 site on the web for sarcoidosis information. Now guys, this doesn't mean I want to run you all over to their site and not hear from you anymore--- truly, they are wonderful, and a site I highly recommend. I just hope they share the info that we too are available.

Hugs,

Tracie
