Hi

welcome! i'm also due for surgery at the end of may/beginning of June

so we shall be recovering patients together. Re: your question about

surgical wires it's not too early actually. I've had braces on since

Dec 1st so approx 4 months too and I had my surgical wires put in

about three weeks ago. First the bottom and then the top. My ortho

told me that I'm done in terms of orthdontics work pre-surgery. Now

all that there is left to do is the surgery which i really just want

to get over with at this point but am in the middle of deciding on

which surgeon to go with since my current OS has not been following

me as tentatively as I would have liked. I am also having my top jaw

done (le forte 1, three segments) and genio. Is your surgeon wiring

you or banding you? Did he give you an approximate time for how long

it would be before you could start dancing again? What type of dance

do you do? I did ballet for 4 years when I was younger and modern for

another two years. I'm sure that your new smile will help you gain

confidence in everything, even ur dancing and I have a feeling all

orthognathic patients smile a hell of a lot more post-surgery and

post-healing. And look at it this way, you know for sure that you'll

be able to bite into a sandwhich without looking like a ravenous dog

from now on.

Glad to hear there is someone else out there who is having surgery at

the same time as I am.
