Guest guest
O, Jane... Hang on. It's gonna get better. Really. But you (or your husband -- now may be the time to assert those medical credentials he's worked so hard to gain) need to find out why you have exposed bone and bloody tissues, I'd think. And honey, do not ever, EVER, try to drive a car when you're not sure you can make it where you're going!!! Call a cab! That put you at greater jeopardy than anything else that's going on with you. I know you're a math and science whiz -- I'm not -- but that's one of the dumbest things you've ever done! Don't you want to live to have another bowl of crab soup?????? On me? Guest guest
Thanks Cammie, I know...And to top the day off guess what I feel right now? A soar scratchy irritated throat! I can't beleive this. I am feeling so low tonight. This exposed bone thing makes me even more weary of eating which I know I need for nutrition and I am so worried that a virus or whatever causes a sore throat is going to cause an infection in this " open wound " . Two weeks in a petre dish of germs (school) just scares me. I have an awful confession to make since I'm on a role today anyway. I'm getting 1-2 Boosts in a day with a glass of milk with Instant Breakfast. I know this is not enough I am losing too much weight and am tired. I'm working in overdrive now that I'm back at work but I just can't get much food in. It's like there's no space and my stitches still sting when I eat and now this! Sigh... I'm sure someone has advice, so bring it on. Guest guest
Hi Jane, Wow, poor you, that doesn't sound like a very nice day at all! I can only imagine how much it must sting to drink with an open wound in your mouth...as if being wired weren't enough for you eh? I hope things get better soon! That definitely doesn't sound like enough food though, you must be starving... if you honestly can't stomach more than that, I guess you have to make what you do drink count... some suggestions that you might want to give a try if you haven't already, since it must make things even worse to be so hungry all the time: I don't know if you've tried making your instant breakfast with whole milk? You could try adding skim milk powder to the instant breakfast and boost? I did that a lot, and I found that it didn't make things too much thicker, but it does add at least a few calories, and some protein too. If you can eat cream soup that might be really good too, you could add some milk powder to that too, or even some butter or something. Maybe that's too thick, I don't know. I was banded, and probably the only reason I didn't lose much weight after the first week was because I ate ice cream EVERY single day haha (it was kinda nice actually!) Myabe you could melt some up and drink it Your OS might have some ideas to help you out with the food, and your other concerns too, did you get a chance to ask him? I bet a lot of people on the board have really good ideas, so hopefully something will come up that helps you out. Make sure that you're drinking enough though, no matter what... Dehydration can make you feel pretty rotten, and from personal experience...it's not something you want on top of everything else. Anyhow, keep us all posted, I'll keep my fingers crossed that your exposed bone resolves itself soon, and you start feeling a bit better!! - > > > > > > I was so happy with my news yesterday and the excitement of > > moving. > > > Today as I stepped in the school building (a beautiful historic > > > spanish archetecture style school) and I realized it was a > > different > > > story. Guest guest
Well, I guess I'm just having a hard time. My throat is so soar and I haven't taken anything. It hurts to swallow and I tried gargling with salt water but just swallowed it. I may take some of my daughter's liquid caugh syrup...I don't know. I'm not getting much help right now and feel very overwhelmed. Last night my husband wanted me to get everything in order for a Tennessee Teaching certificate. The school board has somehow " lost " my current certificate thatI paid 50$ for and I can't exactly call them and get it straightened out. One more thing and I don't know what I'll do. I cried myself to sleep last night (which only made my sinuses clogged). And I have relatives over that want constant entertainment (we'll see if I'm up for put put). I am still in bed right now afraid to get up....if only I could sleep the next two weeks off. And last but least...I have tiny red bumps all over my faace as of this morning. Guest guest
You might consider calling your OS about the sore throat, maybe he will want to put you back on antibiotics. I don't know how doctors like to deal with that kind of thing when you're recovering from surgery, but perhaps better to apprise him of the situation and him tell you not to worry than for you to find out in a week that you should have told him? I know how hard it can be at this stage of things...Around three weeks after surgery I cried pretty much every day for a week (like you said, not a good idea because then you just can't breathe properly!). I just hit a wall where I was like " enough already, I just want to feel better, eat real food, not slur my words, and look normal again! " That was honestly probably the hardest week for me. But it did pass, and I'm sure things will get better for you too! You just have to hang in there and it *will* get better, promise! And hey, if they're your relatives visiting, I'm sure they would understand that you're sick and unable to entertain them and need just one day to yourself at least to help you rest up for another week of teaching... send them to a museum, or an art gallery or something! And if they're your hubbies relatives...tell him that he can look after them for the day If you're sick on top of recovering from major surgery, and being back at work full time... you need your rest! I can't even imagine how you're doing all that, wow - p.s are the red bumps on your face a rash or allergic reaction or something?? > > > > > > > > > > I was so happy with my news yesterday and the excitement of > > > > moving. > > > > > Today as I stepped in the school building (a beautiful > historic > > > > > spanish archetecture style school) and I realized it was a > > > > different > > > > > story. Guest guest
eatherr, Thank You so much! It helps to know I'm not a basket case and that others have been there and made it. My husband called the OS today and he said I need to rinse with Peridox some more (get a new prescription for some) and in a couple of days if it still hurts then liquid antibiotics. I feel better knowing theres a plan. I thought after 2 1/2 weeks I was over the hump, but it seems like after that its hump after hump. I know it will go by and time won't stop so I'll just keep on keeping on! Thanks for all your support, I really needed it! Guest guest
I'm wondering whether your sore throat and your exposed bone are related. I dunno. I do know that you don't want a bone infection if you can avoid it. I dunno about Shreveport -- if I understood correctly, that's where you're living just now -- but around here this is one of the worst pollen seasons in years. If not decades. We've had a pretty dry, mild winter, and it's tough. I take a Zyrtec every morning, and that's about the only way I can breathe and not cough, at all. My husband, who has particularly problematic issues about his throat and mouth, is sore both in his throat and roof of the mouth. I am hoping that it is a result of all this pollen stuff. My auto was covered with the yellow stuff that penetrates everything just the other day. We had enough good rain to wash some of it away, but it's still the price we pay for dogwood, redbud, azaleas and Japanese Magnolias all blooming at once. Yes, it's gorgeous. But I really felt for the folks who ran in a marathon right by my house this morning. Maybe you need to take some sick time away from school. I'd think exposed bone and a sore throat would be enuf justification. And that you could easily get a medical excuse if you need it. And no. You are not eating enough. Latest recommendation from a dentist seeking to help me put some meat on my hubby's skinny bones: Add whey protein to whatever shake you can do. Mix in Flax oil, or Flax Seed, if you're blending (the latter does double duty in keeping things moving within, if you follow my intimation). Mix in ice cream, or frozen yogurt, and make it as thin or as thick as you can go. And since it's St. Paddy's season, I will pass along Fiddly's suggestion that you whiz some corned beef and cabbage, with whatever you like in the way of mustard and horseradish, and you'll have a sort of instant, almost-liquid Reuben. What I was told is 8 cans of Boost or Ensure a day to support the healing. Go and drink, woman! Would it be better with a shot of rum or Vodka or whatever in it? Guest guest
Cammie, Thanks, I usually do have terrible allergies. The resident we talked to said the sore throat may be from bacteria in the mouth and put me bacvk on the peridex rinse. If that doesn't work we'll try antibiotics. I'm going to take your advice and go make me a good old vanilla shake. I survived the relatives (we did go to put put) but luckily it wasn't too eventful. My one year old stayed in her stroller the whole time and enjoyed the breezy 77 degree weather! And now I'm ready for my shake! Chat with ya'll later! Jane ps. I'm not really a big drinker and so I fear if I added a drop of liquer at this point I'd surely pass right out! Which may be a good thing. Also, I've used up all my sick leave and extended sick leave at work but luckily we only have a 4 day week next and then Spring Break (then that Fri. the wires come off) Hey! Sounds like I might make it when I put it like that. Jane > > > > Thanks Cammie, > > > > I know...And to top the day off guess what I feel right now? A > soar > > scratchy irritated throat!
