Guest guest
I just took the temperature of my yogurt right after taking it out of the Yogurtmet and it's 117.5. Is that the right temperature? I'm not clear on the range of temperature the yogurt should maintain. Any help would be appreciated. Claire Yogurtmet is 120 degrees..is that ok? I just took the temperature of the water in my Yogurtmet with a thermometer after 24 hrs. and it's between 120 -121 degrees. When I bought it from Lucy, she said the temperature is usually 115 degrees. I was wondering what is the right temperature to make yogurt and is mine too hot? I was careful to make sure I was only in the water and not touching the sides. Claire SCD 6+ weeks.
Guest guest
That's a little bit high - can you take some hot water out and add somecool in the meanwhile. What you need is a dimmer switch to plug into the wall and then you plug the yogourmet into the dimmer switch, andthen, once it heats the water up, you can dim the heat down a bit to get the perfect range. Next time, make sure to sterilize the thermometer first though, in caseyou didn't do that this time. The ideal range of the yogurt is 100-110. But it's hardly armageddon if it goes a little high. Guest guest
Are you saying the yogurt should stay between 100 -110 the whole 24 hours? I sterlize the glass jar, lid, and all utensils/plates, and ice teaspoon used in the process. I'm very careful about that. btw: I use a waterproof pen style thermometer that registers the temperature INSTANTLY upon insertion, unlike the one that came with the Yogurtmet. (My hubby is in the restaurant business and it's the one he uses in his business) It's about $16 at your local restaurant supply. If you ever use it, you'll never go back to that Yogurtmet one. Here's a link to see what it looks like: http://www.cooper-atkins.com/productspecsheet.asp?pid=22 Claire SCD 6+ weeks. Yogurtmet is 120 degrees..is that ok?
