I've just been researching this! How funny; I guess great minds think alike =)

I'm stuck on the toothpaste thing, but for shampoo I've read about using baking

soda to wash and an ACV rinse. There's a lot of info online about this. I think

I'm going to try washing with an egg white today since I have so many extras,

and do an ACV rinse.

For my skin I think I'm going to start dry brushing it; apparently it aids in

detoxification, so it might help minimize die off! And I'll probably just use

coconut oil as a 'lotion' after my shower. I don't like using any commercial

body products either because it's true that your skin absorbs a lot of stuff!

Hope that gave you some ideas!

Alyssa =)

No, I don't normally ingest toothpaste or mouthwash for digestion but sometimes

I find that the sugary feel they leave in my mouth is a problem.

Marilyn,Actually the skin is very good at absorbing things. You would be surprised just how many chemicals you have absorbed from personal care products--most of them petroleum products and/or xenoestrogens. I really like the brand A'kin for hair and body care. It is an Australian company, but they do have a US distribution http://www.puristusa.com/. AmeliaFrom:

Any ideas about toothpaste/mouthwas h without sugar and additives? Lotions

Some people do look into this. If you are super-sensitive, it's something

to consider, but for the majority of us, it's not an issue.

The point is that we are eliminated food which feeds the bacteria in our

guts. If it doesn't go through our guts to be absorbed, it's generally

not an issue.

I don't imagine you EAT your toothpaste or drink mouthwash?

I know that the skin is very good at absorbing things -- and that there

can be effects from it doing so.

I'm just saying that in terms of what is SCD-allowed, since it doesn't go

through the gut, it doesn't necessarily feed the bad bacteria.

Like you, I prefer to avoid a number of things... but it wasn't something

I concerned myself with when I was first starting the diet. I got the

diet in line, and then started working on other things.

Alyssa,

I think it's the egg yolk you want to use, not the white. The pecanbread board

talked about this recently, and it was said that the white pulls biotin out of

your hair.

I've hear Tom's of Maine has some good toothpaste. There is also something

called toothsoap that they recommend at pecanbread.

I use toothpaste and mouthwash from Nutribiotic, which have pretty inoffensive

ingredients.

Last but not least, here is a good website to find friendly body products:
