Guest guest
Hello, I have that same problem also. I'm in a teacher certification program in southern Maine and I'm trying to minimalize the impact my surgery will have on my student teaching. I will arrange to meet with my surgeon later on this month to get a rough estimate of when my surgery will be...it is tough to schedule this date, however, because it all depends upon how quickly the teeth move. What are you studying? -nathan
Guest guest
Hi I'm in my 4th year of university, so I know where you're coming from! I really wanted to have the surgery over the summer because I was worried about that too, but I didn't end up having a choice, and had upper/lower/genio/wisdom teeth on Jan. 14. It was a friday, so i missed that day, and then the next week: 6 days of class. By about 6 or 7 days post op I was doing a little bit of homework. Most of my profs were really nice, and have changed tests and allowed me to skip assignments or hand them in late. My department loaned me a laptop so that I could work on my thesis at home. Also my friends were nice and took really good notes for me. I don't feel like I'm too far behind, I think it will be fine in the end...the only bad thing would be if I had to give any oral presentations, I wouldn't be able to because I have a splint in. The one thing that I was able to do, which is really making things a lot easier for me, is that I took a course over the summer, and so am only taking 4 courses right now instead of the usual 5. I don't know what your course load is like, but I only have about 2 or 3 hours of class a day (I wouldn't have been able to handle much more for the first few days I was back). Anyhow, if you have any other questions feel free to ask me. Good luck with your decisions and with your treatment! - > > Hi, > I am meeting my surgoen in a couple of weeks, and i am guessing that > he will decide what needs done before surgery, and so the nunmber of > appointments to the orthodontist will increase, as i will be getting > braces back on etc. > Was jsut wondering, if anyone has had this surgery whilst at > university, and if they did, how much it interfered with their > studies, and also how much time they had to take off for the actual > surgery. > Thank you.
