Guest guest
i was really concerned about losing hair also. my surgeon told me that biotin really doesn't help all that much. just eat your protein and take your vitamins. i have been doing that and my hair and nails have been growing like crazy. i think also that doctors don't want you to use the biotin as a cruch, they want you to eat and take your supplements. in Delaware Lap RNY 3/10/04 261/194/
Guest guest
You can read about Biotin here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/202091.html#SXX04 of interest: " A lack of biotin is rare. However, if it occurs it may lead to skin rash, loss of hair, high blood levels of cholesterol, and heart problems. Some conditions may increase your need for biotin. These include: Genetic disorder of biotin deficiency Seborrheic dermatitis in infants Surgical removal of the stomach " " Biotin is found in various foods, including liver, cauliflower, salmon, carrots, bananas, soy flour, cereals, and yeast. Biotin content of food is reduced by cooking and preserving. " And also note: " Claims that biotin supplements are effective in the treatment of acne, eczema (a type of skin disorder), or hair loss have not been proven.
