Guest guest
Hi everyone So, I made it through! I had upper/lower/genio and my wisdom teeth out on friday, and, it hasn't been that bad. I stayed in the hospital two nights (they would have let me out after one but I wanted to stay another, just in case), and really, the worst moments were with the IV (they had a lot of problems getting it in, and later it fell out of the vein which was pretty painful) and throwing up right after surgery (not so terrible, but kinda scary until I realized I wasn't going to choke and die lol). I guess I ended up getting pretty dehydrated from not drinking enough too, because at my post-op appointment yesterday I almost fainted when they tried to take an x-ray, and they had to hook me up to an IV again for about an hour. But, since then, I've learned my lesson, and I've been feeling a lot better. The only thing is...when I swallow, or open my mouth even a little (I'm banded and can manage maybe 3 mm), I hear this creaking and tiny pops from the joint or along the lower jaw or palate...has anyone else experienced this? My surgeon took a look right after surgery, and said it was probably ok, but I didn't get a chance to follow up on it with him yesterday because of the whole fainting fiasco. Anyhow, let me know if this seems normal!! Thanks -
Guest guest
hi heather, congrats on making it through surgery. i would recommend that you not try to open your mouth at all. your body is still trying to heal and probably doesn't need any additional trauma. unless, of course, your surgeon is urging you to open your mouth. if that's the case maybe you should call his office and get some advice. sounds like you're recovering really well! maddie > > Hi everyone > So, I made it through!
