For both of you:

One surgeon, not my own, suggested that when you feel a yawn coming

on, put your hand or fist under your jaw, and support the opening.

Otherwise, it's uncontrolled, and can indeed be troublesome.

Hope this helps.

Oh! yikes! I am banded right now... yawning actually as I write

this.... I feel the tug a little in my right jaw joint. It is more

swollen than that other and maybe that is why. I wish I would stop

yawning!!! Good luck with yours. How much longer until you are

unwired??? :) Katja

No, according to my surgeon, it's not good, but if you are concerned

about your joints, you should talk with your surgeon. And try the

fist-under-your-chin trick to prevent that uncontrolled opening. It

really works.

I am planning to ask the surgeon, and in the meantime I have been

trying to support my jaw when I feel a yawn coming... hard when it

comes out of no where!!! I am a little freaked out about the fist

under the chin though because I also had a genio.... but I am

supporting the jaw now. Thanks!!! Katja
