Guest guest
I didn't feel " full " for a long time. I was on a pureed diet for the first month. I personally only starting eating baked potatoes, fat free sour cream, etc. about 1 month ago. I stayed on a rather bland diet my second month post-op too, more out of fear, but now I can almost eat anything. Maybe you are just rushing things a little. Go back to eating maybe just the potatoe with a little bit of fat free cheese or something on it and no sour cream, then try it again in a month or so. Hope I could help a little bit! from Delaware Lap RNY 3/10/04 261/192/
Guest guest
hi Bethany, You're about 2.5 weeks out, right? I believe that the only time we are encouraged to eat high carbohydrates is during the first few weeks after surgery with the goal of getting your body working again and used to its new size. If your surgeon has allowed high carbs ask him when to transition to high protein and leave the high carbs behind during your " window of opportunity " . I was told that those foods are considered transitional and you should not consume them after the " soft " food phase of your diet plan. I was also concerned that you may have eaten more than the two ounces your pouch holds now. I would ask you to see if your eyes are able to accurately estimate a total 2 oz portion size. I went to my kitchen to see if I could give you some help. I came up with this. 2 oz = 6 level tablespoons....level, not rounded. I can fit 6 tablespoons into a plastic scoop that came with my protein shake mix (from CarbSolutions) but suspect you will be able to find some 2 oz container in your home to use for a while. I'm assuming you didn't eat any of the skin, but you knew that. So, you have some potato and margarine and sour cream. My minds eye fills that 2 oz capacity pretty quickly. I am also remembering that the potato allowed during the soft food phase was " mashed potato " not baked which would be more dense and harder to digest. You said 1/2 baked, but you didn't mention 1/2 of what, so measurements are just not there to help us. I hope I have helped analyze what may have caused you distress so it won't happen again. Guest guest
my diet seems different than everyone else's. Baked potato is ok and yes I have been closely watching to see if I know what 2 oz is and I know that it is two heeping teaspoons. That is all that I ate including the margarine and sour cream. The low carb diet that everyone is talking about is correct for me, although I have to have a balanced diet which consists of some carbs, fats, and lots of protein. I guess we will see what the future holds. bethany > > When I have been eating soft foods for the last week, I have not had > > a feeling of being full.
