Guest guest
As hard as it is to believe some people have revisions for the same problems you are describing. Some people fail to achieve their weight loss goal and have VBG's revised to the RNY or DS. I am having major surgery and while in there my doctors are revising mine to move the Y stem lower to increase my weight loss. I have a proximal now and they are moving it to a distal (my spelling of that may be off). It just means I will absorb less and hopeful push my weight loss forward. I lost 285 lbs the first year and froze in place for 18 months. Then I gained 40 pounds and lost 20 and regained it. Well we aren't going to play yo-yo so it is a revision to increase the amount I lose. With this revision I should reach my goal of 200 to 240 lbs. To all the single women on this hard road, I am a handsome, 50ish Christian male who doesn't smoke, drink or use illegal drugs. I am very even tempered and always wake up in a good mood. I am a lousy cook and not great with domestic stuff but I am an affectionate cuddler. I love to go to the theater, a movie or just stay home and talk, play games and cuddle. My hearts desire is someone to love and laugh and who isn't a chronic complainer. My heart yearns for a home of peace and tranquility, not contention. I want a life of peace and a life of helping others. I love to travel and love to be around all kinds of people. My biggest vice is I love to play blackjack at the casinos though I never lose much money. My career is making little movies for network and cable TV and business consulting. I would love to have someone who loves movies or who would love to live on the west coast and be part of that industry. I want someone who knows what we have been through, will help keep me eating right and we can share the joy of a new life together. I know that I may be a dreamer but I hope I'm not the only one. I can't believe it. There are actually some of you out there having the same difficulty losing that I have. I am 2 1/2 years post op and am no where near goal. Of course I'm not disappointed in my weight loss... but still have over 100 lbs to go. During the first year and a half I lost about 160lbs. Then stopped completely for about six months when, due to various medications, I began to gain weight, and put on about 25 lbs in 4 months. I was devastated. I finally convinced doctors to get me off those medications (that weren't working for my psychiatric condition anyway), but the excess weight remained. Finally my psychiatrist decided to try a new med used not only for my bipolar disorder but is being used successfully for bulimia and binge eating disorders. Needless to say I've finally started losing again, after a year and a half hiatus. I've dropped 11 lbs in 5 wks. Hurray. Maybe the new med is my answer. It's called Zonegran. Something to think about. Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
I thought I had heard that typical weight loss following revision is only 10-15%........ does anyone know if this is true? hardly worth having major surgery for 20lb in some cases? this can't be true............ sue
Guest guest
There is a WHOLE list of us who are in the same boat. And even those who HAVE gotten to goal will tell you there are times when they have fallen OFF the wagon, for whatever reason. I am 4.5 years post op and have never made it below 200. I get close, but no cigar. In my case I would say it is, poor food choices. Recently, I have broken the sugar addiction that has held me in it's grip for about a year. Don't ask how I did it. I don't know. I think my surgery did it. All of a sudden my body was rebelling. Now, I don't crave it. If I get something sweet is will be a piece of fruit. Much better for me and doesn't seem to trigger the cravings. Guest guest
Jac, that's great news about Mom. I'll keep the prayers up for her speedy recovery. So, why is it that you have different revision surgeons? Either way, they all sound like great docs! in NJ ********************** > Well, my mother had her revision/hernia repair yesterday. All went well, and she should be out of the hospital late tomorrow or noon Monday. She'll be coming home to stay with me for a few days. I need to keep an eye on her because I think she's planning on doing too much too soon. Daughter becomes the mother. She's a very young 65, and thinks she can slay dragons... > > As for my revision/gall bladder surgery, I'm feeling very good about it. When I spoke with her surgeon yesterday, he asked if I've had mine done yet, and told me that he had discussed my case with my surgeon. Mom's surgeon was the assisting surgeon on both our original by-pass surgeries. I was surprised to learn that my surgeon had actually done as I requested and called him. He pulled all my old surgical records, scope reports, and did the scan on my gall bladder, before he made a decision on whether or not I was a good candidate for this surgery. FINALLY, a doctor that actually listened to me! I have more confidence in this doctor than any I've seen in a LONG time, and I'm looking forward to my surgery, with the hopes that my > days of vomiting bile will soon be over. > Jac > Life is not a spectator sport > Picture It Digital Designs > XXX Farm Paint Horses > Mail to: jholdaway@c... > > >

Had nine months of that when I was pregnant with Leah, it is the worst. Glad to hear that mom is doing well. When is it going to be your turn?
