Just a quick update for the group, this is day 83 post-op and I'm

down 77 pounds. Doesn't look like I'll meet my goal of 100 pounds in

a 100 days, but that's okay. As long as I'm still losing that's all

I'm really after.

Here's a reality check from last weekend. I went to the local Home

Depot to purchase some quick cement. The bags weighed 80 pounds each.

I went to pick up the first bag and could hardly lift it. After

wrestling it into the cart, it dawned on me that that bag represented

the nearly 80 pounds that I have dropped. Wow, I think it hit me that

I have been carrying around more than three of those bags everyday in

fat. My poor body could not have kept that up for another 30 years.

I'm so thankful for the WLS option. I hope those that are looking

into it, do some real soul searching and research. While it is a

lifelong commitment, for me, the benefits, so far, have exceeded my

expectations. While I still have over 120 pounds to go, I know that

my life has already improved. My general attitude at home and work is

much more optimistic and I'd be lying if I didn't say the compliments

strenghten me to press on to my goal.

Yes, my appetite has returned, but I feel I'm keeping things in check

by monitoring the breads and pastas, and sticking with the high

protien meals. I will put off anything else on my plate until I have

had at least half of the protien. I have yet to find a long term

protien shake, maybe someone has a thought on that.
