Guest guest
I had a hard time finding an in-network surgeon also. I am going to an out of network surgeon, and I am being billed as medical, not dental. > > How common is it to find an " in-network " surgeon? > > My insurance company is saying Dr. West is out of network and won't > pay as much. > > Also, they said it need to be billed as medical and not dental. Guest guest
The OS that I have been seeing for a year is out ouf network. I am currently waiting for pre-certification to see what they would pay for me to use him instead of an in-network surgeon to make my decision. I am hoping to be able to keep him as I am already comfortable with him. Mine will also be covered under medical, not dental. > > > > > > How common is it to find an " in-network " surgeon? > > > > My insurance company is saying Dr. West is out of network and won't > > pay as much. > > > > Also, they said it need to be billed as medical and not dental. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I'm having Dr. West do my surgery, too. He also is out-of-network for my insurance BCBS of Oregon. If insurance deems my surgery is medically necessary, they will only pay a portion of Dr. West's fees but will pick up the medical facility, anesthesiologist, assistant, etc. They will be billing medical. I understand if it has to do with the teeth, it's dental; the jaw is medical? Did you ask about the other fees in your itemized quote? You may find those fees are covered in-network. Because my OD strongly recommends Dr. West, I'm travelling the distance and have decided to pay the difference. Do you have a surgery date scheduled? What will your surgery entail? Good luck!
