I too have a long complicated story. I recently had bilateral TMJ prosthesis and

am 4 weeks post op from a LeFort One. I had openings of 15mm-18mm. My OS put me

under general anesthesia several times while he was doing TMJ joint lavages to

keep me comfortable until the surgery. He took all my impressions and molds

while I was under because they could not do them otherwise. They had to stretch

me open while I was under. He then sent extra molds to my ortho. Don't know

where you live , but would highly recommend my surgeon. Especially, if you have

TMJ issues.Good Luck.

Greetings,

This is my first posting and I would appreciate your

help. I have been working towards orthognathic

surgery over the past six years and am finally due to

have the procedure sometime this summer. It has been

slow-going with the added complication of arthritis in

my jaw joint and limited mobility (less than 20mm).

I'll spare you the story but recently I've been having

difficulties getting molds taken as normal trays do

not fit. My orthodontist has used creative methods to

get impressions but they do not have the clarity

needed for the surgery. Has anyone had a similar

experience or do any of you have suggestions? Also,

I'm interested to hear from anyone that has gone

through this surgery with mobility limitations and/or

arthritis in the TMJ.

Thanks so much for your help.

Jennie
