Well, after 4 of the longest days of my life, I'm home. I am now a " true "

RNY. The offending section of small intestine was removed, along with that

nasty gall bladder. The worst part of the ordeal was the NG tube, which did

not come out until late yesterday. It hurt my nose, my throat, and gave me a

raging ear ache. I was not a nice person. The Foley catheter was fun in

comparison. At the moment, I have 21 stainless steel staples holding my

tummy together. I have an 8 inch long incision. The good part is I lost 13

lbs, according to my weigh in at admission and discharge. I only need to

lose 4 lbs to be at MY goal. I checked in at 162, I checked out at 149. My

appetite and capacity have reset at zero. I had only ice chips to suck on

for 3.5 days, and broth (yuck) for lunch and dinner yesterday, and this

morning. Now, if the reflux is truly gone, I'm a very happy camper. I expect

that last 4 lbs will be gone by Monday.

Unfortunately, I came home to very unhappy circumstances. While Fred was at

the hospital with me, someone let my dogs out of the yard, and one of my

basenjis, my rescue boy who was terrified of everyone but me, went AWOL, got

all the way to the highway, and was run over and killed. My beloved little

red parrot died, unknown cause. My husband has been put back on active

status to go to Iraq sometime between August and October to train their army

for engineering We'll just see how that goes this time. I won't believe it

now until I see his shipping orders. I just keep crying...being off my Paxil

for 4 days didn't help any either.

All in all, however, I'm glad I got this done. I know I'm going to feel much

better soon.
