Guest guest
Hi again Amber, actually we've kind of talked about the Shreveport Shrine a lot lately as another mother was looking in to treatment options near Oklahoma. While I would venture to say the Shreveport Shrine can " technically " work on club feet, I wouldn't trust them to and they don't have Ponseti Method doctors...so you're more or less jumping from the frying pan in to the fire. Be patient. Doctor Dobbs will reply to you, if he hasn't already - and as far as Shrine hospitals go, that is the one you need to aim for. Don't let distance be your deciding factor!!! I'm still (still???) undecided about where I'll be taking my baby when he's born soon - but either to Iowa City or to St. Louis (dobbs). Unless our ultrasound was horribly mistaken, this will be my 3rd clubfoot baby and I just know enough by now to know there really isn't any cheap imitation - and inferior treatment is going to haunt a child all the years of his/her life. No cheap imitation, but yes, there IS an Easy Fix! That's the Ponseti Method. You can help yourself gear up by looking on the web at Havenhouse.org, or Youthbridge.org - it's the same place but recently changing names so one or the other. That is the house Shrine sponsors. But also look up Mc House St. Louis - and you find their web page for information, too. The Shrine hospital page doesn't have a whole lot but you can easily search that up too (Shrine Hospital St. Louis). Call or email any or all of these folks to answer your more specific nagging questions. I hope some of this helps and honestly, you won't regret the initial " trouble " of finding and getting the right help. The difference will be amazing! s. Guest guest
Amber, I haven't read all the replies to you yet, but if I can impart just one thing to you -- you do NOT want to go to the Shreveport Shrine. There is someone at the St. Louis Shrine who can help you with travel arrangements - it is shrine policy to send you (and pay for transportation or send the Shriners van) to the closest shrine. Since you need to go to St. Louis you will need to find a way to get there. If transport is an issue, they can help you get Wings of Hope or another free flight program to get you there and back. If ee did not already give you the woman's name and number I will find it for you. Hang in there, we'll get you to Dr. Dobbs! > > Does anyone know anything about Shreveport, LA Shrinir's Hospital ? > If they even deal with club feet or nor ? > > Sorry yall if im a bother jsut got alot of questions and always seems > like i hit a wall alot of the time > > Amber > Mother to 12/6/05 BCF >
