Guest guest
I know this sounds crazy but just another crazy concern after jaw surgery! I haven't even thought of wearing makeup in the last two weeks since my face has been through major trauma. I have washed my face with my regular clinique soap each night but I can't tell if I am getting all the spots since they are numb. Then when I rinse I can't tell if I rinsed well. Anyhoo, my face is peeling something awful even with moisturizer. I want to start wearing makeup again (especially since I go back to work next Mon) but am worried about getting it off with all the swelling, numbness, and peeling and I'm still afraid to totally soak my face from fear I will drown with these wires and splints...don't ask my mind has been playing crazy tricks on me lately. All this to say when did you ladies return to makeup wearing! Jane
Guest guest
Hey Jane, After surgery and the swelling went down, I started to notice little tiny bumps in my cheeks. You could not see them in the mirror but I could feel them. Over time they turned into zits. Worse acne than I had a 14 years old. Cammie told me it's normal- a result of the drugs maybe. She also told me they will disappear as suddenly as they came. I hope so. I am not a big make-up wearer but I have stayed away from it almost entirely simply cuz I hate the idea of putting anything on my skin that might make it worse... I'd rather just wait it out. At a recent family event, my stepmom remarked first thing when she saw me " Why don't you put on some make-up so you look half-decent? " (my step-mom is rather opinionated and bossy) My boyfriend cut in and replied " Well Shirley, why don't you give her a big kiss hello and she'll be wearing plenty! " Did I mention my boyfriend is professional comic? Suffice it to say, she does not think he's very funny. Tova > > I know this sounds crazy but just another crazy concern after jaw > surgery! Guest guest
LOL! That's a great line. You might find your skin more acne-prone, so I agree, putting more on it is not the best idea. You may have to live with the fact that your skin needs a break and recovery too. I totally gave up wearing makeup once I started seeing a dermatologist just before surgery. My skin condition is much, much better. I do have little breakouts from time to time, but that's pretty normal. Drink lots of fluids, that tends to flush your lymph system and is good for your complexion. Guest guest
Hey Jane, I'm not even thinking about makeup at this point. With my swollen and scarry looking face right now, I don't want to bring attention to any part of it . I think I will wait with it for now - hopefully after the swelling is down a bit more. Guest guest
Jane, Yesterday for my first dsy of work I attempted to put a little bit of makeup on andneedless to say you are correct, the dry skin and numness made it a not so easy task. I'm not a huge makeup person either, but my under-eye concelaer is a much needed tool to my life. My thoughts to make-up are as tfollows: 1. everyone you see is so freaked out that you look diffrent and cant speak that they could care less about the blotchy skin 2. You areso concerned if you have drewll runnig down your chin you forget that your face is pale. Good luck back at work. I will tell you that today I stayed home. Though my first day was great, I woke up today with a horrible sore throat and exhausted. Im lucky where I can do alot of my work form home, if you can, it's not a bad idea. I live in NYC and the subway in my pre-surgery life always caused me anxiety b/c of the amount of people trying to get in a small space. With my swollen face I just see a arm slugging me as they try to grab for a seat. --- janepapillion wrote: > > She sounds just like my mother in law...bossy and > rude!
