Guest guest
I'm confused because I thought vinegar was so detrimental to yeast? And, heh, I'd probably like it - or for a while anyway. I used to drink pickle juice. > Holly, > > I dry heaved from the thing.. > I didn't feel it was something I could work through LOL!! > Maybe others have better experiences?? > Heh. > > Jodi > > >> >> Hi SCDers! >> >> I've read a recent post where it was suggested as part of the candida rotation to mix 2T ACV with a glass of water 3x's a day. So I decided to begin a week of this treatment and oh my how gross! It said to sip on it, well aside from wanting to spit it out I'd rather just down the straight vinegar and get it over with, is this ok to do or is there some benefit to the sipping and diluting with water? >> >> Help! Guest guest
I’m still trying to get the “facts” about using ACV as a candida treatment. I’m in the middle of updating the candida & SCD files I put together a few years ago, so have lots of resources to wade through. In a general way, anything fermented is something candida and other fungal organisms love. Which includes vinegar. All of the sources I’ve looked at so far discuss vinegars as being something to limit or avoid while eliminating a candida overgrowth. Unfortunately they don’t mention ACV, don’t differentiate between types of vinegars. But I’m still looking at the newer texts and articles in the medical literature databases, since there could well be updated information on this. I’ll post what I discover. Kim M. Guest guest
I'm confused about ACV being used for candida. Everything I've read in diets to fight candida says that vinegar makes candida worse because it's fermented and to avoid anything with vinegar like mustard, soy sauce, mayo, etc.... I'm not understanding where the idea that ACV is a good choice to fight candida, something I've struggled with for years. Another thing I'm confused about is the S. Boulardii supplement. I read that antibiotics kill off the bifi bacterium in particular and yeast will move in to take their place if you don't supplement with bifi. I'm allergic to yeast in all forms, and S. Boulardii is not an option for me. I'm wondering if those who've been on long term antibiotics must end up taking S. Boulardii to be rid of the yeast that may have taken over the place of bifi ( killed by antibiotics) in the gut. Seems it would be easier to just take the bifi and avoid the possible yeast issues for folks like me? I'm thinking bifi may not be good, but neither is systemic candida. What's the lesser of 2 evils?
