Guest guest
Jen, Is she walking? I do know Dr. Dobbs is cautious about reducing too early, although at 18mo's one would expect to be at 12-14 or very close to it. If she's not walking yet though, I can see it. Then again, if you're hard hitting the 18hr/d every day I would imagine that it'd be ok to do 16-18 which is as far as I know an acceptable range for this phase. If you break it down... 23/7 for 3mo's then 20-22 then 18-20 then 16-18 then 14-16 then 12-14... see what I'm getting at? I'm thinking 16-18 is a good spot to shoot for rather than 18 solid every day. Granted, I usually err on the side of caution whatever phase we were at, meaning if we're at 12-14 I pretty much aim for 14 every day... But 12 is ok too. Then again, you absolutely should check with Dr. Dobbs because it kinda sounds like he's got a reason for this. Especially if she's not walking and bearing weight regularly on the foot to keep it stretched when she's not in the FAB. Guest guest
Kori- Addie has been walking well since 16 mos. We are not perfect about 18h. We are 18h M-F. I do 12 at home and day care does 4 hrs during the day. On weekends we just do 12h. I do put on her brace if we are traveling on the weekends- since she is immobile for a long stretch. But, as a routine she just does 12 on weekends. Dobbs is aware of my " light weekends " schedule. It would just be great to cut her back to only 2hrs during her school days. It is hard for her on nice days like today when the kids play outside. I will have to see what Dobbs says about it later this month... Thanks for your info! Guest guest
Jen, We were doing 16-18 hrs/day for a long time (longer than I thought we would), and then some things changed with our schedule at home (Christmas holidays too) and I was having trouble getting Sammy in the shoes before 7 at night which coupled with the time I had told daycare they could take them off was putting us closer to 14 hrs. a day, this was not something I had planned or Dr. Dobbs had told us to do, it just kind of started happening over the course of a week or two. We were scheduled to see him right before Christmas and I told him that we'd been a little lax and were getting more like 14 hrs. He said that Sammy's foot looked great and that he thought that was fine, and we should go ahead and just do 14. If you feel like he is saying Addie is doing really great with no problems, I would feel free to ask him if you can reduce. If he feels it is not okay I'm sure he will tell you to keep up the longer hours. Hope this helps, allison > > , > > I was reading one of your posts and noticed that Sammy is in Dobb's > brace 14h.
