Guest guest
We have this problem too but it really stems from when Ethan was only a few weeks old. He was delivered using ventouse suction cap and I never realised for a few weeks that although I could turn his head to the right it was actually his whole body that was moving (how could I miss that!). He had a really stiff muscle in his neck and after a session or two of Cranial osteopathy his necked moved properly and continues to do so. Due to the first few weeks of sleeping on his left side only he too has a flat head on one side and now at 10 months it is still quite visable and we are hoping to get it checked out. So what I am trying to say is keep turning that head! And also check it doesn't seem like there is another reason why Marcus doesn't like his head being turned t the side. We are veterans at creeping into Ethan's room to turn his head only to find he has turned it straight back again a minute later. He too also seems to have the wierd thing that he doesn't like it being turned. Even in his sleep I can feeel him putting up a great bit of resistance at times. Thankfully we also have times when he doesn't seem to notice and recently I often find he's already got his head turned to the right (non-flattened side) so I'm hoping things might start to improve soon. Good luck adn if anyone does have any good tips out there I'd also love to hear them! Kathy --- novemberfable wrote: --------------------------------- Ok. Here's another problem I am facing. As most of you know, Marcus is now in the brace. Prior to wearing the brace, I would place him on his side to sleep. Now that he's in the brace, he can't sleep on his sides because of the awkward position of the brace. He is getting a flat head in the back from sleeping on his back so much. I try to turn his head to the side while he is on his back, but he doesn't like that. Does anyone have the same problem? Or do any of you have any tips/advice on how to solve this problem? Guest guest
He has no problem turning his head to either side. He'll even stay like that a couple of minutes, but somehow he always manages to bring it back. My other son has a flat head on his right side. It doesn't look like either of my boys will have a nicely rounded head. > > > --------------------------------- > Ok. Here's another problem I am facing. Guest guest
Everett never minded sleeping on his side with the bar on, and belly slept quite early with it on. They say not to do that but he was most comfortable that way... they will figure it out - but in the mean time, can you try putting him to sleep somewhere else, like in a swing? Or prop his leg so he can lay on his side? Maybe even hold him in a sling while he naps during the day? s. Guest guest
Just a thought here but maybe it's time to move him into his crib, ya know new enviornment. We didn't deal with this issue so I can't offer any personal advise. But I also thought that was good advise about the sling, the less time he spends laying on that spot the better right? Have a girlfriend who's son had this (mildly) and she tried to give him lots of tummy time which her ds hated with a passion lol and she did use a sling and a swing as well. But she noted with the swing that her ds would usually end up laying his head on the flattened spot in the swing too so she would position the swing so that he had to turn the other way to see her. His head did eventually round out nicely and he has a sweet little round head now at 18 mos =) & Grace > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Ok. Here's another problem I am facing. Guest guest
And I thought my first boy was stubborn! This one literally " demands " what he wants. And his tired mama just gives in. Boy am I asking for it later on. > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Ok. Here's another problem I am facing. As most of you > > know, Marcus is > > now in the brace. Guest guest
I haven't read the replies, so sorry if I repeat. did this at first too! I wouldn't worry too much. As he gets older and starts rolling, he will do this in the brace as well as things with round out. Until then, position him on his belly or side while he is awake and your are playing with him. Try to keep him off his back as much as you can while you are awake. I would even sometimes move during his naps because he was a pretty sound sleeper. Their heads are pretty pliable until past one, so once he is more mobile it will get better. 11/19/04 novemberfable wrote: Ok. Here's another problem I am facing. Guest guest
still does that in his sleep as well at 14 months. We have finally given in during sleep and just turn his whole body. At least, we are not letting his head get flatter. Kathy Bruce wrote: We have this problem too but it really stems from when Ethan was only a few weeks old.
