FWIW, I have BCBS (of TX - and they are supposedly the toughest) and I read

them the two CPT codes for DS and they said that they would cover it if there

was an additional medical diagnosis (aka co-morbidity.) Also, n of Dr.

Anthone's office said that she's had BCBS approve DS before - that it's no

rare thing.

Kathie,

The problem is mainly with Blue Cross of California. In California

Blue Cross and Blue Shield are separte entities (while they are

merged elsewhare). The policy took effect on June 1st, so many were

approved in the past. However, those trying to get approval now are

having grave difficulties. Each state makes a different set of

policies, so a decision by BC of CA does not necessarily affect any

other state.
