Guest guest
Hi, I am exactly 3 weeks post-op too, but I had lower advance bsso only. I know your surgery was more involved, but I thought it would put your mind at ease to know I'm feeling exactly the same. I still have a bit of swelling below my cheek bones down to my lower jaw line. It seems like it's stuck that way because it hasn't changed much in a week, plus I can only open a little bit too. I'm not worried at all. From what I understand reading posts on this group, this is normal. My OS and Ortho say I look really good for 3 weeks. I figure it takes a long time for the body to heal. I've noticed this from past surgeries, some take up to a year before your body finally returns to " normal " . On a less serious note, are you starting to get really hungry? I'm finally hitting the wall with hunger as my energy level is coming back. I thought I could do the soup thing for weeks, oh no! I started popping chocolate chips in my mouth (the height of the chip is the amount I can open) and for me this is my drug of choice. I'm glad we have others on this group to get us through. Guest guest
Many people have had stiffness in assorted places in their faces post op. I can't think of anybody who didn't lose it after a time, but the time varies. And yes, many people have reported long-lasting swelling near the cuts. And yes, it does go away, but sometimes it takes its own sweet while in doing so. Bits of it can remain for a year or more -- so at 3 weeks, you're an orthognathic " newborn.
